Photography Photography is more than just a means for documentation. Photography is more than snap shots at a family reunion. A fine art photographer makes more choices than people realize. Point and click is not the solution for taking a photograph (John Szarkowski 9-12) . A fine art photographer may choose to freeze action or to blur it. The freezing or blurring of action is not just done at the push of a button, it takes knowledge and an understanding of how apertures and shutter speeds relate to each other under different circumstances with different types of film (Barbara London and John Upton 98). Art or not, photography is a creative process. Another characteristic that sets apart†¦show more content†¦Photographs from a fine artist are very different from the average photographers images. In the photograph class I attend now I cannot take a picture for I think it will be a good image. To my professor, who is a fine art photographer, images cannot be good just because. There is the big question that many would like the answer to. What is art and what is not art (Antonia LoSopio 9-12)? Is photography only art if it answers a question or if the photographer has a well thought out plan? Can a photograph be good just because it is pleasing to look upon? Is a photograph art for it is correctly printed and exposed (Henry Horenstein Intro)? What is art and when is the line drawn that something becomes art or is down graded to just a â€Å"nice† image? The other question is who gets to decide? What gives one person the power over another to decide what is and isn’t art? Individuals with artistic backgrounds tend to believe they poses a power over others that allows them to decide what is and what is not good art, but is art not just an independent virtue for each person to decide for themselves what they like and dislike (Szarkowski 9-12). Chemicals are an important part of photography’s creative process. Some creative toners include Sepia toner, brown toner, green toner and blue toner.
